The NCE Team

Our multi-disciplinary team have experience in finance, corporate governance, fund raising, community engagement, renewable energy project development and project management. All staff enthusiastically share a common goal: taking local energy national.

NCE was established in 2015 by a group of experienced Nottinghamshire-based professionals with the assistance of Mongoose Energy (now Bright Renewables).

The NCE team: committed people passionate about sustainability and community renewables.

Philip Angus

In 2006 Phil was appointed Manager of Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP), a fuel poverty and climate change charity, and before that was the Energy Strategy Coordinator for Nottingham City Council. Since joining NEP Phil has steered the organisation from a small three staffed operation to one that delivers multi-million pound projects with a team of 20 staff. NEP has directly helped over 25,000 households with energy efficiency measures through its projects, helping to reduce energy bills and save CO2. In 2014 NEP was awarded the Queen’s Award for its contribution to Sustainability.

Phil is also a Director of MOZES (Meadows Ozone Energy Services), a community energy company, and was until recently the Chair of the Embankment Social Enterprise.

Miranda Cumberbatch

Miranda is a senior manager at the charity Nottingham Energy Partnership – through successful commercial bids, and partnerships she has secured more than £12 million of investment for Nottinghamshire. In 2008 Miranda was appointed to the Affordable Warmth Programme Manager and since then has enjoyed working at the forefront of community regeneration and domestic energy efficiency in the private sector. Achievements include the successive delivery of domestic energy policy through a range of projects over the last 15 years and the installation of key energy saving measures for more than 20,000 households across Nottinghamshire.

Kevin Hard

Kevin Hard is a Director and founder of EvoEnergy. Kevin’s passion for clean energy and renewables started whilst completing his PhD, and has since built and sold a number of Multimillion pound Solar related businesses. He is a Chartered Engineer, sits on the Board of the Solar Trade Association and is a winner of multiple National Entrepreneur and Business Awards. From inception in 2007 to a circa £30 Million pound business, he built EvoEnergy to be a market leading rooftop Solar Photovoltaic business which has installed Solar on over 8,000 homes and hundreds of commercial rooftops. Other projects have included developing and raising finance for large Solar Asset projects in Social Housing and Education across the Midlands. He is keen to use his knowledge of business, finance and energy to give something back to the local Community.

David Hallett

David is a qualified Barrister and Chartered Accountant. He specialised in taxation and in advising businesses on wider commercial issues. He practised in this field, in London and Nottingham, for 30 years, before retiring 12 years ago. Since then he has been very engaged with the voluntary sector. He is on the Board of 3 local charities, as well as MOZES (a local Social Enterprise company), he is Treasurer of the Meadows Partnership Trust and provides advice on accounting and business issues and on governance to several others. David lives in an Eco house in the Meadows area of Nottingham.

John Lancaster

Having studied physics and then Environmental Technology, John has pursued a 20-year career in renewable energy consultancy and project development. Over the past 5 years he has focused on community ownership and was a founder director of Bath and West Community Energy. Since then John has helped set up several Community Benefit Societies, bringing experience of community engagement plus technical, financial, legal and regulatory knowledge of renewable energy projects. John is also a manager for Bright Renewables and a Managing Director of Nottinghamshire Community Energy.
